Description

POOL TEST STRIPS AquaChek CHLORINE 4-in-1

Overview:

Dive into crystal clear water with AquaChek’s Chlorine 4-in-1 test strips. These strips are specially crafted for pools and spas that utilize chlorine as their primary sanitizer. The user-friendly flip-top cap ensures you only dispense one strip at a time, making the process streamlined and waste-free.

What Does It Test For?

  1. Free Chlorine – Essential for sanitizing and keeping your pool clean.
  2. pH Level – Measures the intensity of acid or alkaline in your water.
  3. Total Alkalinity – Indicates the amount of alkaline substances in the water.
  4. Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) – Enhances chlorine’s resistance against sunlight.

Range of Measurements:

  • pH: 6.2-8.4
  • Free Chlorine: 0-10 ppm
  • Total Alkalinity: 0-240 ppm
  • Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 0-300 ppm

Detailed Insights:

1. pH Level

  • Importance: A balanced pH level ensures no scaling on surfaces or corrosion of metal parts.
  • Correction:
    • Low pH? Add soda ash.
    • High pH? Introduce an acid.

2. Free Chlorine

  • Importance: AquaChek Yellow uniquely measures Free Chlorine which is the active chlorine that sanitizes your pool. Excessive Combined Chlorine can lead to eye irritation and unpleasant odors.
  • Correction: If Free Chlorine levels are low, simply add more chlorine. However, always check that pH and Total Alkalinity levels are within ideal ranges before making adjustments.

3. Total Alkalinity

  • Importance: Alkalinity prevents sudden pH fluctuations that might corrode or scale metal installations.
  • Correction:
    • Low Total Alkalinity? Add sodium bicarbonate.
    • High Total Alkalinity? Incorporate an acid.

Note: A low pH reading might appear if Total Alkalinity is under 80 ppm. Always maintain Total Alkalinity within the 80-120 ppm ideal range.

4. Cyanuric Acid (Stabilizer/Conditioner)

  • Importance: It shields chlorine from rapid dissipation due to UV rays. However, excessive cyanuric acid can dampen chlorine’s efficacy and may lead to scaling or cloudy water.
  • Correction: To reduce high levels of cyanuric acid, drain and refill part of the pool water. For instance, replacing half the pool water will decrease the cyanuric acid content by 50%.

General Usage and Safety:

  • To extract a strip, open the AquaChek bottle and snap the lid shut immediately to preserve strip quality.
  • Always store the strips in cool, dry locations and retain the drying agent packet inside the bottle.
  • Never mix chemicals and always introduce them to the water individually.
  • Ensure no swimmers are present when adding chemicals.
  • Test your pool at both ends at least twice weekly, and test your spa every time before use. Recording your results can be helpful for tracking.
